Unfortunately I was out sick most of the week and didn't get to see your projects earlier, but I brought them home with me and read all of the work you turned in. I must admit how proud I was of all of you, and how thankful I am to work with such amazing children and families!! Stephanie really took a lot out of the videos we watched, and her poster was stunning; Aubrielle made the most creative milk carton mask of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; and everyone made some truly thoughtful and inspiring "dreams"!! Thanks again to all the families who took the time to discuss the holiday with their children, and come together to reflect upon the positive changes our society has enjoyed because of the work of Dr. King. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!! -Mr. Linnet
This is our "Virtual Forum" for all the exciting things we are studying in class. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!
Welcome back everybody. I hope that you enjoyed your holiday with your family, and are ready to get back in the classroom. We are almost at the halfway point in the year, and have many great things still to learn. Kindergarten will be learning the rest of their sight words, begin reading more difficult books, and practice counting and writing numbers beyond 30. First Grade will continue learning word families, reading chapter books, and practice adding and subtracting larger equations.
We had a blessed and happy holidays in with our family. Thank you all for the generous gifts you gave me. Skylar really enjoyed Christmas. Santa brought him a new bike which he loves riding. His Grandpa gave him a pet turtle that sleeps in his room with him. He also got the Wreck-it Ralph Toy he really wanted as well as some Monster Trucks. All in all, I think he had a great time!!
I also got some exciting gifts this year. Santa brought me a new television, and my orthodontist gave me some new braces (you'll definitely see them when we get back to school). My mouth hurts, and I will be wearing them for about 2 years, but my teeth really needed the help, so it was the right time to get them fixed. Please don't laugh too much if I sound a little funny this week, it takes some time getting used to the braces in my mouth. I have been reading with Skylar, so I don't think it will be too bad, but I do have some trouble with certain sounds.
Anyways, I can't wait to be back in the classroom tomorrow and hear all about your exciting vacation time. Let's make 2013 an exciting and educational adventure!!
